In June 1887, Louis Pasteur established the Institut Pasteur with a commitment to conduct basic research, primarily on infectious diseases, and share the resulting knowledge. And on November 14, 1888, the Institut Pasteur opened its first physical institution in Paris. An institute of excellence, 10 Institut Pasteur scientists have won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine since Institut Pasteur was founded.  Institut Pasteur has a rich history of important scientific discoveries that has changed the world and continues to be an important force in today’s global scientific landscape.
