[2016 Event] 2016 Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting on Nov. 21, 2016

On 21 Nov 2016, the Institut Pasteur Korea (IPK) conducted a scientific advisory evaluation of its core technologies and health research activities. The CEO of IPK along with IPK research group heads presented research as well as plans for a novel biomedical research concept to the members of the Scientific Advisory committee. The Scientific Advisory Committee is comprised of renowned scientists from pharma and academia: Dr. Alex MATTER (Experimental Therapeutic Center – Chairman), Dr. Sung Key JANG (POSTECH), Dr. Ho JeongKWON (Yonsei University), Dr. Eric RUBIN (Harvard University), Dr. Jeongmin KIM (Jeil Pharm), Dr. Baik Lin SEONG (Yonsei University), and Dr. Ari HELENIUS (ETH Zurich). Events like this are important for IPK as it ensures the science program fits within IPK's mission and the research will generate transformative discoveries that will enhance human health.
During the meeting, each of the 4 IPK research discovery areas had an opportunity to present: Technology & Business Development, Clinical Research, Acute Diseases, and Chronic Diseases. Discussions regarding research strategies, major milestones, special issues, and development goals were debated with IPK scientists and members of the Scientific Advisory Committee. The meeting was fruitful as participants openly discussed new ideas and strategized how to create a scientific environment conducive to promoting discoveries with freedom of enterprise in the health sector; together with the Korean and international academic, and pharmaceutic community.
