[2016 Event] Review of ‘Advanced Course on Antibiotics(AdCAb)‘ by Dr. Soojin Jang

2016-11-01

Earlier in October we shared news of Dr. SooJin Jang’s, Head of Antibacterial Resistance Research Laboratory, participation in an advanced course on antibiotics (AdCAb) and the importance of a greater understanding of the cutting-edge approaches and technologies for antibiotic discovery and development; especially important due to the emergence of global antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Dr. Jang shared the following:

*Dr. Jang’s comment

During the course, 44 lecturers gave presentations regarding the history of antibiotics, current stage of antibiotic development and antibiotic resistance as well as the future of antibiotics. I met many people from around the world that share the same interest in addressing antibiotic resistance and discussing potential collaborations.

Antibiotic resistance is a threat to public health in Korea. I really hope that IPK can contribute to finding a solution for this urgent threat. Gaining in-depth comprehension, having access to the latest knowledge about antibiotic resistance and connecting with great collaborators will help IPK develop innovative research strategies with valid outcomes.

In this context, AdCAb put me one step closer to achieving the goal of our lab. I highly recommend the course for anyone who wants to study antibiotic resistance or antibiotic development.
