Antibiotic Resistance NEWS in KOREA

2016-08-16

Globally, extensive and inappropriate use of antibiotics has led to a rise in antibiotic resistant bacteria. To address this issue, health authorities in S. Korea have developed action plans to reduce antibiotic use. A 2014 report found S. Korean’s antibiotics usage is 35% higher than the average OECD country. And a report published by the U.K. government, found resistance to antibiotics could lead to 10 million deaths a year worldwide by 2050.

Institut Pasteur Korea's Antibacterial Resistant Research Lab is working to extend knowledge of antibiotic resistance and understand pathogen’s physiology in order to discover new antibiotic molecules to effectively combat antibacterial resistance.
