Dr. Alexander Ploss, Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University, U.S., participated as a speaker in the special seminar held on November 9th at Institut Pasteur Korea.
He delivered a lecture on the topic 'New tools, techniques, and tricks to gain insights into dengue virus biology' to the researchers at IPK.
Following this excellent presentation, the researchers at IPK and Dr. Ploss, engaged in discussions concerning various methodologies for studying dengue viruses and for identifying possible targets for therapeutic development against this serious public health threat that infected approximately 4.5 million people in 2023.
IPK scientists, during individual discussions or during the tour visit of the IPK HTS drug screening platform, were able to appreciate the insights of Dr. Ploss derived from his extensive experience on different human-tropic viral pathogens, encompassing, but not limited to, hepatitis viruses, classical flaviviruses like Zika, yellow fever, and dengue viruses, SARS-CoV-2 and Malaria.
