[Edaily] Interview with Dr. Youngmee Jee, CEO of Institut Pasteur Korea

In an interview with Edaily, Dr. Youngmee Jee, CEO of Institut Pasteur Korea (IPK), shared strategies for infectious disease preparedness and response. Dr. Jee suggested the co-prosperity amongst infectious disease researchers through active cooperation and exchange and the reinforcement of global collaboration as key strategies. She also emphasized the importance of continuous and stable investments with long-term perspectives in the field of research and development
 
To help strengthen Korea’s infectious disease response, Dr. Jee revealed that IPK will collaborate with domestic research institutes with various research capabilities including Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT), Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB), Korea Virus Research Institute (KVRI), and Korea National Institute of Infectious Diseases.
 
Additionally, she mentioned that IPK will promote collaboration with major international organizations, such as the Global Virus Network (GVN), GLoPID-R, and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to expand Korea’s infectious disease network, and at the same time act as an infectious disease research hub for the Asia-Pacific region through the Institut Pasteur International Network (IPIN). Dr. Jee said she will strive to ensure that the excellent research results generated by the institute can be used in real medical practice
