[Economy Today] Preemptive research needed to fight new infectious diseases like MERS

Dr. Hakim Djaballah discusses the current MERS outbreak in Korea, the current state of treatment development and need for drug discovery. At this time, there is no specific treatment for MERS. Instead interferon and ribavirin are being used, but these drugs need to be preserved as last resort medication. The world is on alert and need support for basic research.
