Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, Seoul, Benchmarked Institut Pasteur Korea, an anchor organization of Pangyo TechnoValley, ahead of the creation of the Sanggye Biomedical Cluster (S-BMC)

Oh Seung-rok, the Mayor of Nowon-gu of Seoul, visited the Institut Pasteur Korea last friday (Feb. 5, 2021). Prior to the creation of the Sanggye Biomedical Cluster (S-BMC), Mayor Oh visited Institut Pasteur Korea as it was a key anchor organization at the time of the creation of the Pangyo Techno Valley, Gyeonggi-do. He benchmarked Pangyo Techno Valley's success factors, including the know-how that successfully attracted a world-class research institute.

Institut Pasteur Korea initially was opened in the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), located in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, in 2004. It moved to the Pangyo Techno Valley in 2009 based on the support from the Ministry of Science and Technology (currently the Ministry of Science and ICT) and Gyeonggi-do.

Institut Pasteur Korea moved into the Pangyo Techno Valley in the early stages of its establishment. Leveraging its unique strength as a member of the Institut Pasteur International Network, a global research network with near 130 years of reputation, and as an international infectious disease research institute, Institut Pasteur Korea helped further attract bio and pharmaceutical institutions into the district. Since, Institut Pasteur Korea has been promoting various research cooperation within the Pangyo Techno Valley, contributing to its development.

We look forward to the successful creation of the Sanggye Biomedical Cluster and its development into a sizeable bio-industrial complex!
