with Unitaid to tackle NTD, TB and Malaria

On November 23, representatives from the Unitaid visited the Institut Pasteur Korea (IPK) and sought collaborative strategies to tackle NTD, TB and Malaria.

Carmen Perez, Senior Technical Manager of the Strategy Department, and Amélie Drillet, Technical Officer for External Relations and Communication at Unitaid met with IPK’s Principal Investigators (PIs) from Host-Parasite Research Lab, Tuberculosis Lab, Technology Development Platform, and Medicinal Chemistry team.

IPK shared updates on research progress in areas such as the development of leishmaniasis diagnostics, TB drug discovery research, and smart-phone based technology of malaria diagnostics and sought expanding its collaboration with Unitaid.

Unitaid also toured the Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) research facility and screening platform.

Unitaid hosted by WHO in Geneva is a global health initiative to bring about innovations to prevent, diagnose and treat major diseases in low-and middle-income countries, with an emphasis on TB, Malaria, and HIV/AIDS and its deadly co-infections.

IPK will engage with various global initiatives and expand its collaborations to contribute to public health.
