Pangyo, Gyeonggi, 8 May, 2016 | Since 2009, Institut Pasteur Korea (IPK, CEO: Wang-Shick Ryu) has provided middle and high school students a variety of exciting educational programs that sparks the next generations’ interest in science, and seeds the importance of infectious disease research.  IPK continues this tradition by offering new classes and programs in 2017.

              
IPK evolves programing based on students’ needs and in 2017, IPK added 3D printing technologies to its scientific theory and hands on experimentation lessons to expand scientific comprehension. Additionally, IPK will continue its well-regarded mentor/mentee program. Students get one-on-one attention with senior scientists to ensure they understand the roles and responsibilities of professional scientists.
 
Also in 2017, IPK will visit schools in the Gyeonggi area that cannot visit IPK’s campus. Scientists will provide various programming which will include hands on experimentation. On a community level, IPK will continue to participate in science festivals in the Gyeonggi area so the general public can have a life science experience and understand the importance of science via IPK’s interactive booths.
 
Education and teaching are an important part of Dr. Louis Pasteur’s legacy and of great interest to IPK. Dr. Wang-Shick Ryu, CEO of IPK says “We take great pride in offering free educational programing that embraces continuous scientific theory and hands on experimentation lessons; that nurtures and encourages the next generation to question, experiment and discover.” Since 2009, approx. 16,500 students have benefited from IPK’s educational programs that nurture the development of future global scientists and leaders.

The institute was established in April 2004 in collaboration with Institut Pasteur Paris and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), with support from the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP). IPK also has a great supporter in the Gyeonggi Provincial government (2005 – 2015 : Block funding | 2016 – Present : drug discovery co-resarch fund for pharm industries).
