The Minister of Science and Technology of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia visited Institut Pasteur Korea

Her Excellency Mrs Demitu Hambisa Bonsa, Minister of Science and Technology, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, visited Institut Pasteur Korea with her delegation on Feb. 25, 2015 as part of a weeklong visit to Korea; with an aim to benchmark education and training systems in the country and facilitate collaborations between Korea and Ethiopia in the fields of science and technology.

Dr. Hakim Djaballah, CEO of Institut Pasteur Korea, and H.E. Demitu Hambisa Bonsa had a general discussion for prospective research partnership in the field of infectious diseases and oncology. They also agreed on the need for promoting various education opportunities for researchers and scientists; and shared ideas on establishing collaborative training programs with major universities in Ethiopia, such as Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (represented by its president Dr. Nurelegene Tefera Shibeshi) and Adama Science & Technology University (represented by its president Dr. Jang Gye Lee).

After the discussions, H.E. Demitu Hambisa’s delegation took a tour around the advanced research facilities of the institute, and explored its unique drug discovery technology enabling cell-based phenotype screening.
