
Institut Pasteur Korea Conducts Special ‘IPK Life Science Mentoring’ Program for Neglected Class of Students
- Elementary students to experience Science & Biotechnology
- Field-learnings are expected to inspire students to grow as future scientists with global science knowledge
January 14, 2010, Seoul, S. Korea ? Institut Pasteur Korea (CEO: Ulf Nehrbass, www.ip-korea.org), a growing global translational research institute will invite elementary students and conduct the special program of ‘IPK Life Science Mentoring’ twice in January, 2010, as a part of ‘Gyeonggi Science Mentor’ program.
Designed to expand the general public’s horizon on the biotechnology area, this special program is a science experience mentoring program differentiated with the education of real-world Life Science knowledge by taking advantage of the excellent experts and infrastructure at Pasteur Institut, one of the leading world class biotechnology institutes.
At the program conducted on both 13th and 20th of this month targeting 60 elementary students in collaboration with ‘Dream Start’ project in Gyeonggi Ansan province, scientists at IPK will provide inspiring educations such as special BT lectures, experiment demonstrations and tour of functional research labs. In particular, the program consists of various learning programs which include the basic education on areas including biology, chemistry and lab safety.

Sunmi Kim, the project manager of Ansan Dream Start said, “This IPK visit and science experience will be of great value to children with high potentials who are under have difficult economic situations”
In addition, Institut Pasteur Korea has been conducting ‘IPK Life Science Education’ for 20 middle school students once a month since 2009 as a part of ‘Gyeonggi Science Mentor’ program, which is designed to build scientific thoughts by enhancing interests on science technology and develop creativity capacities. At the mentoring program, seniors such as professors, researchers and engineers become mentors to educate junior students through various learning methods for some period.
