Institut Pasteur Korea to Showcase Drug Discovery at Gyeonggi Science Festival

- Encouraging stronger curiosity in research science and innovation in the next generation of scientists
Pangyo, Gyeonggi, 4 Sept, 2017 | Institut Pasteur Korea (IPK, CEO: Dr. Wang-Shick Ryu) will participate in the Gyeonggi Science Festival at Bucheon on 9 Sept and at Dongducheon on 23 Sept. IPK’s interactive program “Drug Discover? It's not difficult.” will inspire both young and old in drug discovery and innova-tion. Every year IPK participates in local and international scientific festivals to highlight the contributions and impact drug discovery advancements have on society and the economy.
At this year’s Gyeonggi Science Festival, visitors will be presented with a range of multi-sensory activities, easy to understand diagrams and pictures that explain the drug discovery process. Also, they will have a chance to perform a hands-on chromatography experiment using chocolate, to demonstrate scientific theory and understand the importance of science in their daily lives.
Education, teaching and community outreach are important tent poles of Louis Pasteur’s legacy. Since 2009, IPK has been an active participant in the ‘Gyeonggi Mentor Project’ and piloted a number of edu-cational programs for children and continuing education programs for young scientists. Approximately 1,600 students have benefited from IPK’s educational programs that nurture the development of future global health scientists and leaders and expands scientific culture in Korea.

About Institut Pasteur Korea
Institut Pasteur Korea (IPK) is an international research institute focused on addressing global health issues with a combination of cutting edge approaches in order to understand disease mechanisms and develop new treatments. The institute was established in April 2004 in collaboration with Institut Pasteur Paris and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), with support from the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP). IPK also has a great supporter in the Gyeonggi Provincial government (2005 – 2015 : Block funding | 2016 – Present : drug discovery co-resarch fund for pharm industries).
