from a User Perspective –
(Dec. 31, 2025, Gyeonggi-do, Rep. of Korea) Institut Pasteur Korea (IPK) announced on the 31st that Eunjung Eom, Manager of the Project Management & Operation, won the Minister of Science and ICT Award (Gold Prize) in the Functional Improvement category at the Integrated R&D Support System (IRIS) Improvement Idea Contest hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Based on more than ten years of experience managing domestic and international research projects at IPK, Ms. Eom presented four key functional improvement ideas aimed at enabling both project researchers and managers to utilize IRIS’s extensive data more easily and intuitively in their work.
The proposals included a reorganization of the project execution information page, the establishment of a dedicated page for institutional administrators, improvements to research funds allocation and change management, and enhanced efficiency in agreement modification processes.
In particular, the proposal suggested restructuring data across the entire project lifecycle according to user needs, allowing essential information to be clearly and promptly identified. Through these measures, it presented a strategy to improve the efficiency of project execution and enhance administrative convenience. The ideas are expected to be reviewed and potentially adopted in future IRIS system upgrades, contributing to expanded downstream use cases such as performance analysis, research strategy planning, and the advancement of research support systems through improved data utilization.
IPK has consistently encouraged improvement ideas across both research and administrative functions. IPK continues to support initiatives that transform employees’ voluntary proposals into organizational innovation, including the launch of an internal 2025 Innovation Idea Contest for employees.
The award ceremony was held on the 30th at the main conference hall of the Seoul ST Center during the event titled “Connecting through IRIS 2025.” The contest was designed to directly incorporate feedback from the research community to improve IRIS as a researcher-centered, inter-ministerial integrated R&D support system.
Submissions were evaluated through document screening and presentations, with emphasis placed on relevance to the contest theme, clarity and logical consistency, originality, and feasibility of implementation.
