(Sep. 22, 2026, Gyeonggi-do, Rep. of Korea) Institut Pasteur Korea (IPK) and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research’s Infectious Diseases Labs (A*STAR IDL), Singapore have entered into a Master Research Collaboration Agreement (MRCA) to strengthen scientific collaboration in infectious diseases research. The collaboration will focus on areas including vector-borne diseases, respiratory infections and antimicrobial resistance (AMR),and emerging research frontiers such as artificial intelligence (AI)-driven research.
The agreement unites the complementary scientific expertise and research capabilities of both institutions and provides a framework to identify collaborative research opportunities, facilitate scientific exchange and strengthen partnerships on infectious disease challenges of shared regional and global importance.
Through its multidisciplinary research capabilities and collaborations across the public sector, clinical, academic and industry partners, A*STAR IDL advances solutions for the detection, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. By connecting A*STAR IDL's globally networked research ecosystem with IPK's infectious disease expertise, the collaboration will deepen research links between Korea and Singapore and create new opportunities for scientific cooperation.
To mark the partnership, IPK and A*STAR IDL co-organised a workshop at IPK in Seoul, where researchers from both institutions shared their respective capabilities and research programmes, discussed areas of scientific complementarity and explored opportunities for joint research.
The workshop was attended by Professor Sung Key Jang, CEO of IPK, and Professor Lisa Ng, Executive Director of A*STAR IDL, who also exchanged perspectives on the future direction of the partnership.
Prof Sung Key Jang, CEO of IPK, said, “This agreement provides a framework for our two institutions to continuously identify and pursue joint research projects. Through international research collaboration to strengthen infectious disease preparedness and response, we aim to contribute to improving global public health.”
Professor Lisa Ng, Executive Director of A*STAR IDL, said, “Infectious disease threats transcend national borders and require sustained international partnerships. By bringing together the complementary strengths and networks of A*STAR IDL and IPK, we aim to advance scientific discoveries and translate them into solutions that strengthen preparedness and improve public health.”
